Travel ESSENTIAL for Health and Wellness

~dōTERRA On Guard Essential Oil~

Essential oils

Everyone knows that we are exposed to germs every day, and more so when we travel, but right now we are at a heightened state of alert and people are traveling less due to fears of illness. There is a travel essential for health and wellness that  can help to protect you while traveling.

My “Go-To” Essential:

One of my favorite “go to” products I’d like to share with you, which is something you should always carry with you, is doTERRA On Guard Beadlets. I was introduced to doTERRA Essential Oils approximately 3 years ago. As a health-conscious person, when I started learning about natural ways to improve my health… I was ALL in! Although there are many different oils out there that work amazingly well, this post will only focus on doTERRA’s On Guard immune-boosting essential oil.

What to Consider:

The most important consideration, when purchasing essential oils, is to make sure you are getting GOOD QUALITY! doTERRA is a company that sells essential oils and other related products. Their biggest competitor is Young Living. I have only ever used doTERRA, so my testimony is based on their products, which have been proven to be of exceptional quality.

The BEST part about the On Guard Beadlets is that they are tiny, discrete, and convenient. The bottle is a little less than 3” tall by ½” wide. The clear beadlets (pictured above) are the size of a pinhead. It fits in any purse or bag,  and if you are around someone who seems sick, or if you know you are going to be around people in a small space, you can quietly pop 2-3 beadlets into your mouth and feel good knowing that you’re boosting your immune system.

Since they are tiny, you can easily swallow them whole without a drink, or you can bite down on them to release the orange, clove, and cinnamon flavor. I happen to really like the flavor! I also use these beadlets right away if my throat starts to feel a little bit scratchy and when I’ve done that, no illness seems to develop. The directions on the bottle say to consume one beadlet as desired, but honestly I take 2-3 when I know I’ll be in contact with people who are sick.

Hand Sanitizer with Essential Oil:

If you like to use hand sanitizer, doTERRA also has the On Guard Sanitizing Mist. My children each get this item as a stocking stuffer at Christmas time. All of the On Guard products have the same orange, clove, cinnamon smell. Its’ great to use the sanitizing spray when traveling, but while I’m on a plane I try to be respectful that others might not enjoy the same scents that I do, so the beadlets are always the safest option.

Other Travel Essential for Health and Wellness Options:

You can also purchase doTERRA’s On Guard in the original pure oil form, instead of the beadlet or sanitizing spray. This option gives you more “bang for your buck” in the long run because it’s not diluted and it’s versatile to use. You can apply this oil directly to your hands and/or take it internally, but overall I find the beadlets and spray to be the most convenient and discrete for traveling.

Although there are plenty of people who swear by this product’s effectiveness, of course doTERRA has to provide the disclaimer that “These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.”

Still not sure about Essential Oils?

Don’t take my word for it. Actress Rashida Jones, from The Office, was asked, “What are some of your travel essentials?” She said, “I always try to protect my immune system, so I bring Wet Ones, I put this stuff called doTerra On Guard, which is an essential oil, on my hands to help with immunity.”

Below are a few more celebrities and athletes who say they use doTERRA On Guard essential oil. (See, it’s not just me!)

Olympic Athlete: Alev Kelter

American Singer: Shoshana Bean

San Francisco 49ers Football Runningback: Tim Hightower
