35 Best Places to Eat in Atlanta

Atlanta is known for its culture, music, shopping, art, diversity, and fantastic food. You will definitely work up an appetite while exploring Atlanta and I’m a local who is here to help!

I’m sharing restaurants with a variety of different price points and atmospheres. Most of these restaurants in Atlanta have menu accommodations for people with dietary restrictions like vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free foods.

Atlanta Famous Food

You’ve probably heard of most of the famous “Southern comfort foods”.

The Peach State is known to have good soul food dishes and I’ve tried almost all of them.

Here are some iconic dishes and Southern favorites

ATLANTA’S FAMOUS DRINK:

  • Sweet tea

ATLANTA’S FAMOUS SIDE DISHES:

  • Collard greens
  • Fried green tomatoes
  • Black-eyed peas
  • Chicken wings
  • Cheese and grits
  • Pimento cheese
  • Boiled Peanuts
Atlanta Famous Food

ATLANTA’S FAMOUS MAIN DISHES:

  • Crispy fried chicken
  • Country-fried steak
  • Pork chops

ATLANTA’S FAMOUS DESSERTS:

  • Banana pudding
  • Bread pudding
  • Peach cobbler
  • Sweet potato pie

PRO TIP: The sweet tea is VERY sweet so I ask for 1/2 sweet and 1/2 unsweetened.

Atlanta Food Hall

Ponce City Market

The Location: Ponce City Market, 675 Ponce De Leon Ave NE, Atlanta, GA 30308

You will find a variety of some of the best Atlanta food at Ponce City Market. It’s an amazing food hall that you HAVE to check out. This is one of my favorite things to do in Atlanta and it won the Travelers’ Choice Award.

If you’ve never heard of a food hall, it’s a place where there are tons of different restaurant options and open seating. I love getting several small plates and sampling food throughout the indoor food hall.

There is no shortage of great places to eat lunch in Atlanta. I am sharing a tiny variety of options but just know, there’s so much more out there!

The Beltline

The Beltline is a perfect place to grab some lunch.

What is the Beltline? It’s a 33-mile multi-use trail around the perimeter of Atlanta and it’s FULL of art and culture. You can find some of the best restaurants along the Beltline.

Here’s how I like to do it… Grab some craft cocktails at a rooftop bar. Then, walk along the Beltline and see some live music entertainers. Keep walking and stop at another one of the local restaurants for some good food. It’s one of the best ways to see a bunch of cool places to eat in Atlanta and have fun while you eat, drink, and get a little exercise.
